Screw conveyors are widely used for transporting bulk materials in industries such as food processing, grain handling, mining, chemical processing, and manufacturing. Since they are the main transporting agents, it is important to choose the screw conveyors wisely. Many factors need to be considered before we finalize the type of conveyor and the vendor for sourcing the conveyor parts. A simple belt conveyor is what we typically see in many industries. Unlike conventional belt conveyors, screw conveyors are particularly suitable for moving powders, grains, granules, semi-solids, and other materials that require controlled and enclosed conveying.

Screw Conveyors are highly efficient equipment designed particularly to transport these kinds of materials. The image above shows a horizontal screw conveyor with a shaft. The material travels forward as the screw rotates. The helical blade in the conveyor is called the flight and comes in various configurations ranging from standard pitch and short pitch to variable pitch based on the design requirements.  Horizontal Screw Conveyors are designed to have a trough loading of 15-45% trough loading. These are also available as Inclined Screw Conveyors(0-45 Degrees), vertical Screw Conveyors, and Shaftless Screw Conveyors according to the design requirements.

The screw flight is one of the most important components of a screw conveyor. Its pitch, diameter, thickness, material, and surface finish directly affect conveying capacity, material flow, wear resistance, and overall operating performance.

Different applications may require standard-pitch, short-pitch, variable-pitch, tapered, sectional, or continuous screw flights. Carbon steel, stainless steel, and other materials can be selected according to the conveyed material and working environment.

YT Conveyor manufactures custom screw flights and related components according to customer drawings, dimensions, and operating requirements. We can produce continuous and sectional screw flights in different diameters, pitches, thicknesses, and materials for horizontal, inclined, vertical, and special screw conveyor systems.
