YT Conveyor manufactured a mixed order of D-type elevator buckets for a customer in Colombia. The order included 5,500 standard HDPE buckets in five D-bucket models, together with 500 reinforced nylon D9×6NZ buckets.
The HDPE buckets covered the commonly used standard models, while the reinforced nylon D9×6NZ buckets were selected for different operating requirements. Although both materials are used for plastic elevator buckets, their appearance and performance are not the same.
Order Details
The Colombia order included:
- HDPE D7×5 buckets: 500 pcs
- HDPE D8×5 buckets: 1,500 pcs
- HDPE D9×6 buckets: 1,500 pcs
- HDPE D10×6 buckets: 1,500 pcs
- HDPE D14×8 buckets: 500 pcs
- Reinforced nylon D9×6NZ buckets: 500 pcs
In total, 6,000 D-type elevator buckets were manufactured for this order.
Standard HDPE D Buckets
Unless a customer specifies another material, our standard plastic elevator buckets are normally manufactured from HDPE. HDPE is a practical and economical choice for commonly used bucket elevator applications.
The D7×5, D8×5, D9×6, D10×6 and D14×8 buckets in this order were manufactured in HDPE. These deep-bottom buckets are part of our D type elevator bucket range, which is available in several inch-size models and material options.

Reinforced Nylon D9×6NZ Buckets
In addition to the standard HDPE models, the customer ordered 500 reinforced nylon D9×6NZ buckets. The reinforced nylon buckets in the production photos have a visibly different natural colour from the HDPE buckets.
More importantly, the material has different performance characteristics. Reinforced nylon offers higher strength and wear resistance than standard HDPE, making it suitable for applications involving higher temperatures, abrasion or sticky materials. The D9×6NZ buckets in this order were manufactured from new reinforced nylon material, not recycled material.

Why Material Must Be Confirmed with the Bucket Model
A D-bucket model number alone is not enough to define the final bucket. Material selection should be confirmed together with the model, mounting-hole arrangement and operating conditions.
HDPE is generally selected for standard and cost-sensitive applications. Reinforced nylon is normally considered when stronger performance is needed in more demanding conditions. Material shrinkage can also vary, so dimensions and mounting details should be confirmed for the selected material before production.

D-Type Elevator Bucket Selection
When selecting D-type elevator buckets, customers can provide the following information:
- Existing bucket model or dimensions
- Required material: HDPE, nylon, reinforced nylon or PU
- Mounting-hole diameter and centre distance
- Conveyed material and operating conditions
- Required quantity
With these details, we can confirm the suitable bucket model, material and mounting arrangement for the bucket elevator system.
