PU Polyurethane Material Overview
PU (polyurethane) is a high-performance engineering material widely used in applications requiring extreme wear resistance and impact strength.
Compared with UHMW PE, PU offers significantly higher abrasion resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty and high-impact material handling environments.
Available Types
We supply two main types of PU polyurethane products:
Standard PU Sheet
- Thickness: 4 – 30 mm
- Suitable for general wear-resistant applications
PU with Steel Wire Mesh Reinforcement
- Thickness: 6 – 30 mm (commonly ≤20 mm)
- Improved structural strength and impact resistance
- Extended service life under heavy load conditions
Key Features
- Wear resistance up to 4 times higher than UHMW PE
- High impact strength and elasticity
- Good anti-static performance
- Stable performance with low shrinkage
- Wide adjustable hardness range
- Reduced noise during operation
Technical Information
- Density: approx. 1.27 g/cm³
- Maximum working temperature: ≤75°C
- Custom sizes and machining available
Applications in Material Handling Systems
PU polyurethane materials are widely used in:
- Conveyor flights and wear parts
- Chute and hopper liners
- Grain slide tubes and transfer points
- Buffer plates in ports and granaries
- High-impact and heavy-wear areas

How to Choose PU Polyurethane Sheet
Size and Customization
The maximum PU sheet size is 5000 × 1260 mm, produced by combining two molds of 2500 × 1260 mm.
For sizes below 2120 × 1260 mm, sheets can be cut according to your requirements.
Available Types
We supply two main types of PU polyurethane materials:

Why Choose PU Instead of UHMW PE?
| Property | PU Polyurethane | UHMW PE |
|---|---|---|
| Wear Resistance | Excellent (up to 4× higher) | Very good |
| Impact Resistance | Excellent | Outstanding |
| Elasticity | High | Low |
| Best Application | Heavy impact & high wear | Low friction & flow improvement |
When to Choose PU Polyurethane Instead of UHMW PE
- When extremely high wear resistance is required
→ PU provides significantly higher abrasion resistance (up to 4× UHMW PE), making it ideal for heavy-duty wear conditions - When the application involves strong impact or heavy loads
→ PU has better elasticity and energy absorption, suitable for high-impact areas such as transfer points and buffer zones - When longer service life is needed in harsh environments
→ PU performs better in high-wear and high-stress applications, reducing maintenance frequency and replacement costs
If UHMW PE is wearing out too quickly in your application, PU polyurethane is often a more durable solution.
PU vs UHMW PE vs Nylon – Material Selection Guide
| Property | PU Polyurethane | UHMW PE | Nylon (PA / Oil Nylon) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wear Resistance | Excellent (up to 4× UHMW) | Very good | Good |
| Friction | Medium | Very low (best) | Low |
| Impact Resistance | Excellent | Outstanding | Good |
| Elasticity | High | Low | Medium |
| Moisture Absorption | Low | Very low | Higher |
| Noise | Low | Very low | Low |
| Best Application | High wear & heavy impact | Low friction & smooth flow | Mechanical parts & load-bearing |
- Choose PU → for extreme wear and high-impact conditions
